But if dealer supply woes are making buying new stuff difficult, you can always save a little dough and put it to use. And while the older modern Camaros don’t have all the latest technology, they don’t give up much when it comes to performance. Especially if, like the currently registered 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS Cars & Dealsthey have some modifications.

It’s hard to imagine now, but there was a time when the Ford Mustang was the only pony/muscle car in town. Then, in 2008, the Dodge Challenger returned after a 25 year absence. And in 2010, eight years after seemingly dying out, the Chevrolet Camaro is back for its fifth generation — with an independent rear suspension, no less.
Admittedly, although the Mustang still rocked the live rear axle, it was lighter and smaller than the revived Camaro. However, thanks to a solid chassis and accurate, communicative steering, the heavier and smoother Camaro can ride the winding road. And in the years before the Hellcat, both cars left the Dodge Challenger as the roads began to curve.
During the 2010-2015 run, the fifth-generation Camaro revived several other iconic trims, including the ZL1, Z/28, and 1LE. However, in 2010, the highest performance echelon of the Chevrolet Camaro was the SS. But don’t take it as a consolation prize.
For one, every 2010 Camaro SS packs standard Brembo brakes, Pirelli P Zero summer tires, stiffer springs and shocks, lower ride height, thicker anti-roll bars, and a limited-slip differential. Second, even manual cars have standard launch controls. Finally, under the hood is the same LS3 V8 that Chevrolet put in the Corvette C6. The automatic version has cylinder deactivation to save fuel, but is only good for one mpg highway. Plus, the wand is more satisfying and easier to live in, Car and Driver say.
The Camaro model would then sharpen the reborn muscle car into a full-fledged sports car. But while the 2010 Camaro SS isn’t quite as supple as the sixth-generation version, it does lay a solid foundation for it. And some V8-powered burnouts too.
There is a well-modified example listed at Cars & Deals right now

Just like its competitors, the Chevrolet Camaro is a popular platform for style and performance mods. And as previously mentioned, the 2010 Camaro SS is currently listed on the Cars & Deals have some of both.

The seller also tinted the windows and installed a black grille and AnzoUSA black taillight bezel. Plus, they removed the car’s chrome badge, painted the brake calipers red, and installed the Moroso ABS pump cover.
Meanwhile, the performance modifications are even more extensive:

In addition, one of the key fobs is damaged and the front seat is slightly folded. However, it has less than 26,700 miles. Furthermore, the seller changed the oil, air filter, coolant, brake fluid, and differential fluid approximately 2000 miles ago. And the removable parts come with the car.
Would this cheap 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS make a good used sports car?

As this is a used muscle car, a pre-purchase inspection is recommended. Cars & Deals also note that the mods installed may not let this 2010 Camaro SS pass the emissions test, though again, stock parts are included. However, since it’s an early coupe with a V8 and stick, it’s immune to most of the top 5th-Gen Camaro problem. And the oil cooler isn’t leaking, which is the only remaining potential problem.
So, if you want an affordable V8 powered RWD sports car, this Camaro might be for you.
