Dearborn, MI– wade through is expanding the curriculum and adding locations to its main training program designed to add more specially trained automotive technicians to the fast-growing field that now includes electric vehicles.
The initiative, known as the Automotive Student Services Education Training (ASSET), is a collaboration between Ford Motor Company, wade through and Lincoln dealer and select community colleges and technical schools. This program provides wade through and Lincoln dealers and their customers with highly trained technicians in wade through service technology and diagnostic & repair methods.
Three new Automotive Student Services Education Training (ASSET) programs started this year at the following community colleges:
Pima . Community College, Tucson AZ
Build Engineering School, Raleigh, NC
Gwinnett Technical College, Lawrenceville, GA
Also, ASSET will be merged wade through The EV curriculum includes courses on High Voltage System Safety, Hybrid Vehicle Components and Operation, Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) Components and Operation and an introduction to High Voltage Battery Services, as well as wade through instructor-led class on Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Operations and Diagnosis. wade through has provided 25 PHEV or BEV vehicles to ASSET locations, so students receive hands-on training.
‘The ASSET program puts these kids in the classroom and then in the kiosk implements them. To me, getting both at the same time will give dealers better retention of technicians and better understanding of information for students,’ says Josh FichterGeneral Manager, Five Star wade through in Hills of North Richland, Texas. Fichter adds, ‘It also breeds loyalty because if you don’t proactively develop your own current engineers, you’ll be in for a world of hurt.’
wade through also added the Mobile Service Technician Certification to the ASSET curriculum. This program is a pathway for students who may be sponsored at one of the 300+ dealers in OUR currently operates the Mobile Services Fleet. The Mobile Service Technician Certification Pathway enhances students’ Light Maintenance and Repair skills early in the program timeline, on their way to becoming more comfortable with larger repairs, working towards becoming A-level technicians and ASSET graduates.

Over a two-year period, ASSET students can earn up to 100% of Ford Service Technician Specialty Training (STST) credential, earn an associate degree in Automotive Technology, and have one year of work experience in a wade through or Lincoln dealers. ASSET graduates can also excel Ford High Voltage Systems Certification, in addition to the 12 certifications this program has to offer.
Since 1985, more than 12,000 students have graduated from the ASSET program with 1800 wade through and Lincoln participating dealers as sponsors. The ASSET program is one of three post-secondary programs wade through-sponsored automotive training program through New wade through Tech, an in-company initiative that aims to support and grow a pool of qualified automotive repair technicians to help meet the growing demand.
