New Delhi: Two Ford Motor Company veterans- Hau Thai-Tang and Frederek Toney are retiring later this year, just as new executive Dave Bozeman of Amazon stepped in to take over their roles, Ford made the executive announcement in a news release.
Thai-Tang, who was appointed chief industrial platform officer in March, will leave October 1 after more than 34 years with the Dearborn automaker, primarily in product development. Toney, vice president, Ford Global Customer Service Division, will retire on December 1 after 22 years with the company.
Dave Bozeman, former vice president of Amazon Transportation Services, where he was responsible for logistics and engineering at a major online retailer, will head up Ford Blue fan brands including Mustang, Bronco, and Raptor. Bozeman will also oversee global parts, vehicle accessories and personalization, materials planning, and logistics for Ford’s Customer Service Division.
Bozeman will join Ford on September 1 as vice president of Ford’s global Customer Service Division and Enthusiast Vehicle product line at Ford Blue, which focuses on gasoline-powered products.

Thai-Tang joined Ford in 1988, working as chief engineer, including leading the design, development, and launch of the 2005 Ford Mustang, the renaissance Mustang. He led the development team for the fifth generation pony car, the S197 which ushered the retro-styled Mustang into the modern era with a deep nod to the muscle car that made it a legend.
The Bronco and Mach-E have made headlines for recall issues.
After the success of the project, he was promoted to head of SVT, the company’s performance arm, in 2006, when it was still a problem. However, the following year Thai-Tang was transferred to Ford Brazil to oversee the company’s largest global market. During his 34 years at Ford, he has overseen projects such as the Bronco, Maverick, Mustang Mach E, F-150 Lightning, as well as the aforementioned Mustang.
“I am very grateful and honored to have served at Ford and proud to leave the company with one of the strongest, freshest and most exciting product lines in our great history,” said Thai-Tang. “I plan to race across the finish line as we prepare to introduce more great products like the seventh-generation Mustang, and work closely with Jim, my Ford colleagues, and our great suppliers on a smooth transition.”
Meanwhile, Frederek Toney’s roles do not involve product development, they are just as important to make the whole company work. Prior to becoming customer service captain, Toney held leadership positions in logistics, operations, and parts and service.
“I’ve had an incredible journey and it’s been an honor to help develop FCSD into a first class organization ready for even greater success,” said Toney. “I am very proud of the way we look after our valued customers and contribute to Ford’s success by modernizing and growing key businesses such as customer service, parts and accessories.
Toney, who joined Ford in 2000, said he was proud to serve a valued customer. He held leadership positions in logistics, operations, and parts and services before taking over customer service management and becoming a company officer in 2009.
“She is also a shining example of an executive who gave her time and talent generously outside of Ford, served on the nonprofit board and worked tirelessly to advance the cause of women and people of color in the workplace,” Kumar Galhotra, president, Ford Blue, said in a statement.
“A completely different talent”
Earlier this year, Ford CEO Jim Farley said the company needed “a completely different talent” to compete in the future.
In a press release, Ford praised the executives who resigned as “highly respected.”
However, the changes follow months of concerns voiced by Ford CEO Jim Farley, who said he needed new talent to take Ford into the future and fix old issues that had plagued the company’s finances and customer satisfaction related to recalls and warranty issues.
Spinning from internal combustion engines (ICE) to electricity, and dividing the company into teams focused on gasoline and electricity, brings uncertainty and fear, he said earlier this year.
Farley said in a statement: “All of us at Ford are extremely grateful to Hau for his unrelenting passion to serve our customers with great products, and his thoughtful and compassionate leadership.”
Meanwhile, Bozeman and his team will be responsible for global parts, vehicle accessories and personalization, materials planning, and logistics for Ford’s Customer Service Division.
Bozeman’s assignment provided Ford Blue operations leaders for each of its key vehicle segments: trucks (Andrew Frick), families (Kiersten Robinson) and enthusiasts, Ford said in a release. Bozeman will report to Galhotra.

As head of FCSD, Bozeman will play a key role in delivering an industry-leading customer service experience by further developing trust, loyalty and always-on customer relationships – all of which are at the core of Ford+’s plans for growth and value creation.
Bozeman has held senior transportation, logistics, and engineering roles at Amazon Transportation, Caterpillar, and Harley-Davidson.
