We haven’t ridden the 2022 Bolt EV, but the bike and chassis are identical to the previous model tested. The electric motor still only drives the front wheels, producing 200 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. At highway speeds, the response is less rapid, but the new electric Chevy should make traffic and on-road merging a breeze. There are two modes of regenerative braking. In our real-world testing, the latest Bolt EV we saw got 102 MPGe, which corresponds to 180 miles of highway range. If you stick to lower speeds throughout the city, you’ll get a lot more range.
