Here’s What Only Gearhead Knows About The 2021 Shelby Mustang Super Snake

Everything that says “limited edition” has a special ring to it. We immediately imagined that we were getting the keys to some magic, super exclusive Kingdom. And for cars, the terms “limited” and “exclusive edition” always come with high prices and limited supplies. Sometimes, though, the investment is worth the thrill. Of course, if the limited edition car is attributed to legendary American car designer Carroll Shelby, it’s worth every penny.

Remember the Blockbuster “Ford v Ferrari” with Matt Damon, Christian Bale, and Josh Lucas, when that upgraded Ford Shelby car impressed even America’s biggest critics and won against more famous rivals like Ferrari? It should be noted that this is not the only success of the Shelby brand. Since Le Mans, Shelby has continuously revamped various dull cars, turning them into true and extraordinary champions sport car. Not surprisingly, for an entire generation of gearheads, the Shelby name has become almost synonymous with the company that manufactures high-end vehicles. The 1989 Shelby Dakota, 1968 Shelby Lonestar and 1965 Shelby Cobra 289 are just a few of the cars that have gone down in history as the best of the best. And the 2021 Shelby Mustang Super Snake continues to carry the torch forward.

The Super Snake is America’s definition of a high-performance vehicle, but that doesn’t mean its design is neglected. Apart from sleek styling, great handling, and great performance, these are the other features and attributes that make the 2021 Shelby Mustang Super Snake the heart of every gearhead.

2021 Shelby Mustang Super Snake Engine Delivers a Shocking 825 Horsepower

As you’d expect from a Shelby-tuned Mustang, this vehicle is truly a beast and the ultimate definition of an American muscle car. The Super Snake hides under the hood of a 5.0-liter Ford supercharged V-8 with a polished Whipple supercharger. According to the official info from the Shelby webpage, the optional supercharger stays cool thanks to the Shelby Extreme cooling system.

The powerful engine produces 825 horsepower, which is 65 horsepower more than the Shelby GT500 Ford. And if that wasn’t enough, this monster accelerates from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds. On the downside, Get Jerry highlights that the 2021 Shelby Mustang Super Snake was toppled by the 2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, which retails for $55,400 less than the Snake, as the fastest car. According to Get Jerry, the GT500 accelerates from 0 to 60 miles per hour faster than the Snake, winning by a tenth of a second.

2021 Shelby Mustang Super Snake Is Fair price

Judging from the car’s performance and unique design, the price that is priced does seem unusual, especially when viewed from the price of a Mustang car, which is not cheap. Shelby is selling the manual-equipped 2021 825-horsepower Mustang Super Snake for $133,785, and it comes with a 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty. Meanwhile, the Speedster model comes at an additional $4,995 on top of the retail price.

On the plus side, Mustang GT owners who purchased their vehicle after 2018 can receive the Speedster upgrade for $79,995. That’s stealing!

Notably, it also featured an upgraded suspension. Ford’s independent rear suspension is revamped with a half-axle Shelby performance. Additionally, “special Shelby springs along with rear stabilizer rods complete the rear suspension change,” says Shelby. The changes increase rear cornering strength and stability to give the vehicle sharper handling.

Both the Super Snake Speedster and the sexy Super Snake coupe have crazy features made for a street legal track car. Some of the coolest things about the Super Snakes are the 20-inch forged aluminum alloy wheels mounted on the performance tires, the Shelby-specific Borla exhaust system, Shelby-specific Brembo brakes, and the Ford Performance Track Handling Pack suspension system. Additionally, this convertible comes with convertible “Speedster Edition” and Tonneau floor mats and door sill plates.

Drivers who prefer a more “aggressive” look can opt for the optional paint strip and the Shelby Wide Body package. Shelby by Penske track suspension is offered as an optional feature.

From the start, the company had announced that this would be a limited edition car, which would mark a celebratory occasion. Furthermore, Super Snake will recognize the company’s long history in the automotive industry. Thus, Super Snake 2021 marks the 98th birthday of Carroll Shelby, who died in May 2012.
