Advantages of Nissan Z 2023 compared to the article Chevrolet Camaro 2022:
- Compared to the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro, the Nissan Z 2023 has a more spacious interior, better visibility and easier cargo access.
- The Z has more standard advanced driver assistance features and offers some interior features not available on the Camaro
- Overall, the Nissan Z 2023 is more fuel efficient than the V8 . powered Chevrolet Camaro model
Although Nissan and Chevrolet sports cars have faced each other for years, this year opened a new chapter in their rivalry. Not just a refresh of the 370Z, the Nissan Z 2023 is a major overhaul with heritage-heavy styling. And it arrives just as the Chevrolet Camaro seems to be entering its sunset years. But there was still time for a duel before that happened, and in some areas, Z went on to win.
It’s easier to sit back and look at the Nissan Z 2023 than the Chevrolet Camaro 2022

While the interior of the current generation Chevrolet Camaro lacks high-quality materials, that’s not the biggest thing holding it back against the Nissan Z 2023. No, it’s its smaller interior space and poor visibility.
A tribute to the Camaro, unlike the Nissan Z 2023, it has a rear seat, albeit a small one. But despite its size, the 2022 Camaro feels cramped inside, says Car and Driver. Also, accessing things like USB outlets and map pockets involves awkward reach or minor twisting actions. And the visibility to the outside, especially to the side and rear, is not at all great.
Admittedly, the design of the C 2023 Z pillar does create a pretty big blind spot. But overall, compared to the 2022 Camaro, the side and rear visibility of the Z is fantastic. In addition, the interior feels more spacious. And even though the extra storage pockets and shelves are behind the seat, they’re both easy to access.
The trunk of the Nissan Z 2023 is easier to load and has more interior storage area than the Chevrolet Camaro 2022

The 2022 Chevrolet Camaro has one advantage over the Nissan Z 2023 when it comes to storage: separate trunk. Meanwhile, the rear cargo space of the Z is basically part of the interior. However, that, as well as the overall design of the 2023 Z, allows it to improve the Camaro in a number of ways.
First, the Z has a hatchback tailgate, which is larger and opens further than the Camaro’s conventional trunk lid. Second, because the Nissan Z is lower than the Chevrolet Camaro, it’s not too much of a hassle to load heavy and/or awkwardly shaped objects. Also, unless you drop the back seat of the Camaro, you can’t get into the trunk. However, with the 2023 Z, you just have to reach back and grab whatever you need.
Regarding that, the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro does have more rear cargo space than the Nissan Z, especially once you fold the seats. But the 2023 Z has more interior storage space than the Camaro. Sure, both sports cars have seat pockets. However, the Z has shelves and storage compartments behind the seats as well as pockets.
The Nissan Z 2023 offers several technological and luxury upgrades over the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro

In terms of technology, especially interior technology, the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro is quite complete, especially the SS model. And in some areas, the 2022 Camaro SS and 2023 Z, which share similar performance and price figures, are evenly matched. Both sports cars, for example, have an 8.0” touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as well as available WiFi. And props to Chevy, it makes the WiFi standard in the SS models.
However, the Nissan Z has some gadgets that the 2022 Camaro SS doesn’t offer. For example, even the base Z Sport has a 12.3” TFT digital gauge cluster, with a night mode no less. Additionally, while the Z and Camaro have two cup holders, the former has two door-mounted bottle holders. And if you step up to Z Performance, you get a 9.0” touchscreen.
To the credit of the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS, it has a nine-speaker Bose audio system, while the Z Performance has just eight speakers. However, the Camaro SS Convertible only gets seven speakers. Also, while the Z offers dual USB and 12-volt outlets, the Camaro only offers the former. Plus, one of the USB Z outlets is USB-C, while the Camaro only has a USB-A port.
It also has more standard driver assistance features

Compared to its muscle car rivals, the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro is a safety example. It has a better IIHS score than the Mustang and Challenger and a five-star overall NHTSA rating. Since neither agency has rated the Nissan Z 2023 as of this writing, it’s impossible to compare it to the Camaro on those metrics. However, there is one area of safety where the Z beats the Camaro: advanced driver assistance features.
While the Nissan Z is a retro-inspired sports car, the list of standard ADAS features is solid. Even the base Sport has adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning, rear traffic warning and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection. Also, front and rear parking sensors.
In contrast, the 2022 Camaro 1SS, which starts at $1000 less than the Z Sport, doesn’t get those standard features. Also, the 2SS, which costs $4000 more than the Sport, only has a rear parking sensor, not a front sensor. And neither offers adaptive cruise control or automatic emergency braking.
Nissan Z 2023 gets better mileage than the Chevrolet Camaro SS and LT1 2022

Unlike the Z, the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro has more than one engine choice. But while the V6 and turbocharged four-cylinder models were more fuel efficient than the V8-powered SS and LT1, they were also cheaper and slower. So, to keep the balance, let’s focus on the V8 Camaros.
According to the EPA, the 2023 Z and 2022 Camaro SS/LT1 manuals both get 24 mpg on the highway. However, the stick-shift Z gets 18 mpg city while the ‘only’ Camaro gets 16 mpg. This gas mileage disparity increases if you switch (sorry) to the automatic model. While the V8-powered Camaro gets 16 mpg city and 26 mpg highway, the Z gets 19 mpg city and 28 mpg highway.
So if you’re worried about fuel prices, the Nissan Z 2023 should give you less pain at the pump than the Chevrolet Camaro.
