Original Venice Crew Unveils Stunning New “OVC Shelby GT350 Roadster” Heritage Mustang During Monterey Collector’s Car Week

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Original Venice Crew, officially licensed makers of the Shelby Mustang GT350 advanced Competition Model car, today will unveil their beautiful heritage 1965 OVC Shelby GT350 Roadster preproduction prototype during Motorlux at the Monterey Jet Center in California. Based on the first-generation Ford Mustang converted by OVC, this roadster combines original styling by American Shelby designer Peter Brock and modern touches by 2005 Ford GT designer Camillo Pardo.

“The new OVC Shelby GT350 Roadster is a project inspired by a group of hot rodders spanning the last 60 years,” said Jim Marietta, CEO of OVC. “When collectors and enthusiasts asked us to build a custom roadster, our team took advantage of the lessons learned over the decades. This car incorporates elements in the roadster front that Peter Brock created for our follow-up car. Famous Ford designer Camillo Pardo styled the cover of the roadster and the rear half of the car. American legend Shelby and OVC member Ted Sutton consider the mechanical aspects of the car. It truly transcends decades to create the ultimate top-down driving experience.”

The design summary for Pardo is broad yet concise.

“My mission is to combine the iconic design written by Peter Brock for the 1965 Shelby GT350 with contemporary styling elements to create a roadster heritage that is both unique and fun,” said Camillo Pardo. “Collaborating with Jim Marietta and Ted Sutton, I designed a top roadster that used the original Shelby Cobra and then added touches that connected the heritage car with the modern version of the Ford Mustang. I am proud that we received a thumbs up on the design from Peter Brock.”

OVC took as much care in planning the new OVC Shelby GT350 Roadster as it did in the competition models it made.

“Many have seen photos of the legendary 1965 Shelby GT350 Competition Model ‘flying’ over the pavement with all four wheels off the ground,” said Marietta. “The new OVC Shelby GT350 Roadster offers the same level of fun for the road. The handsome sunny day cruiser has plenty of smooth horsepower and road stability. This roadster is stylish enough for any occasion, whether it’s at the beach, a country club or driving in the country.”

The new OVC Roadster is priced at $289,000 and comes standard with:

  • Ford V8 engine 425 horsepower

  • Automatic transmission

  • Four wheel disc brake

  • Improved front suspension

  • Premium Rims and Tires

  • air conditioning

  • Power steering

Options include:

  • 500 horsepower engine competition

  • Manual Transmission (4 or 5-speed option)

OVC plans to show the new roadster at various locations on the Monterey Peninsula during collector car week. It will then travel to shows across the US over the next two years, including the 2022 Las Vegas Concours. Only 24 production models will be built.
