WEC: Kobayashi Leads Le Mans FP3 Session; Fastest Corvette in LMGTE Pro

Kamui Kobayashi was fastest at Le Mans in the third free practice session held this afternoon at the No.7 Toyota Gazoo Racing GR010 Hybrid Hypercar, recording the fastest lap of the weekend so far

Final preparations for tonight’s Hyperpole session were carried out when Toyota was in position 1-2 but the second position Toyota No.8 experienced a technical error

The LMGTE Pro category saw the No.64 Corvette take the lead, and in the No.22 United Autosports USA LMP2 the car took the lead in time. The session is marked red at the midway point after the crash for the TDS Racing x Vaillanta LMP2 entry.

In the LMGTE Am class, the Porsche No.46 Team Project 1 leads the 23-car class.


  • The No.7 Toyota GR010 Hybrid Hypercar driven by Kamui Kobayashi recorded the best FP3 time with a simulated Hyperpole lap of 3m26,796s, which was the fastest lap of 90th running Le Mans so far
  • Toyota Gazoo Racing GR010-Hybrid Hypercar No.8 was second with Brendon Hartley scoring fastest lap at 3m27.115s
  • But No.8 stopped on track and slowly returned to the pits after an electrical problem stopped Ryo Hirakawa. The car is back in action
  • Glickenhaus Racing was third as car lap No.708 in 3m27.466s with Olivier Pla at the helm
  • Car No.709 Glickenhaus 007LMH took fourth place ahead of the Alpine ELF Team car which got the last BoP break ahead of FP3 and Hyperpole
  • But Alpine had to crawl back into the pits after trouble in the last 25 minutes of the session


  • Corvette Racing sets pace in LMGTE Pro with Nick Tandy in car No.64 setting lap 3m52.307s
  • Team Porsche GT No.91 came in second as Richard Lietz recorded a best time of 3m52.787s
  • The No.63 Chevrolet Corvette driven by Jordan Taylor, Antonio Garcia and Nicky Catsburg peaked at 3m52.824s, sealing Corvette Racing first and third.
  • Michael Christensen sets the best time on the No.92 Porsche 911 RSR-19 to take fourth place
  • AF Corse were fifth and sixth with partner Ferrari 488 GTE Evo as Miguel Molina and James Calado set the time
  • Riley Motorsports Ferrari 488 GTE Evo spent most of the session in the pits with unspecified technical issues and finished seventh


  • The WRT No.31 car of Rene Rast, Robin Frijns and Sean Gelael topped the LMP2 class for most of the session but United Autosports claimed a 1-2 finish
  • Filip Albuquerque set a best time of 3m30.964s in the last three minutes to go P1 in car No.22
  • United Autosports USA’s No.23 sister car took second place with Alex Lynn peaking at 3m31.025s
  • 3m31,030 set by Robin Frijns of WRT was originally 0.8 seconds ahead of United Autosports USA No.23 car but was demoted to third as Lynn’s time was only 0.005 seconds faster
  • Cool Racing took fourth place as Yifei Yi stopped time by just 0.2 seconds from second
  • No.38 JOTA Oreca-Gibson fifth fastest in the ultra-competitive category as lap 3m32.151s set by Antonio Felix da Costa
  • Norman Nato set a late deadline to take sixth place in the LMP2 class on Realteam with WRT entry
  • The AF Corse No.83 car is seventh and also leads the Pro/Am division with Nicklas Nielsen bringing joy to Denmark’s huge fan base at Le Mans
  • Several LMP2 cars have run into trouble through incidents, most notably the LMP2 TDS Racing x Vaillanta entry when Philippe Cimadomo crashes hard on a Porsche Curves
  • ARC Bratislava car driven by Miro Konopka and Jack Aitken’s No.47 Algarve Pro Race car collided at Dunlop Chicane in the last 10 minutes but both cars kept going
  • Further incidents of Duqueine and Graf’s car led to a yellow flag period during the three hour session


  • No.46 Porsche Project 1 Team leads the LMGTE Am field with Mikkel Pedersen flying to best 3m54,386s
  • Second TF Sport as Henrique Chaves is just 0.2 seconds away from Pedersen’s best
  • Third in the LMGTE Am class is the Hardpoint Motorsport Porsche 911 RSR-19 from Alessio Picariello
  • The No.98 Northwest AMR Aston Martin Vantage was fourth with David Pittard setting the fastest lap
  • No.59 Inception Racing The car broke down in the last moments of the session as Alexander West wrecked his Ferrari 488 GTE Evo
