This year, Habitat for Humanity Kamloops purchased this exciting raffle prize, a 1968 Camaro SS Convertible, from Ian Gray Salmon Arm GM.

Over the past three years, Rust Valley Restorers have partnered with Habitat for Humanity Kamloops to support the construction of affordable housing foundations for residents in Kamloops, the Shuswap area and beyond.

In the fall of 2021, Mike Hall of Rust Bros. sold his property and auctioned off many of his vehicles.

How this unique partnership all started is with a quick stop for coffee at this charming ’50s restaurant in BC Interior. Habitat for Humanity Kamloops executive director Bill Miller and procurement coordinator Rex Landis chatted over their coffee, discussing how the organization could reintroduce themselves into society and have a greater local impact.

Looking out through the glass windows of this nostalgic restaurant is a unique collection of antique vehicles, which inspired Miller and Landis to come up with the idea of holding a Classic Car Sweepstakes to raise awareness and funds for their cause. With luck, a restaurant employee managed to connect the Habitat for Humanity Kamloops team with Mike Hall of The Rust Brothers, who has a large collection of rare and classic cars amassed over the years on Mike’s property.

A partnership with Habitat for Humanity Kamloops was formalized, and in line with Canadian documentary television series Rust Valley Restores, Rust Bros agreed to restore classic cars for Habitat for Humanity Kamloops and support Habitat’s first annual raffle.

Rust Valley Restorers airs on the History Channel and Netflix, and has brought attention and awareness to Habitat for Humanity Kamloops and their worldwide mission.

The Classic Car Draw would not have been possible without the support of the sponsors of Habitat for Humanity Kamloops, which include Ian Gray of Salmon Arm GM, Prima Construction, LNGroup, Patteson, CFJC Kamloops, Lordco, Canadian Tire in Salmon Arm, Castanet, Cascades Casino, Kamloops, NeVille & Associates International Immigration, Eagle Homes, Cascade Casino at Salmon Arm, Kamloops Insurance, Canco Kamloops, Mr. Mikes Vernon, Kamloops Office Systems, Brush Sweep at Salmon Arm, Raceway Barber at Salmon Arm, and more.

Help support Habitat Kamloops 4th Annual Car Draw today. Together we can help help families to own homes. Together, we can create a solid foundation from affordable housing and home ownership to providing a stronger future for families and communities.
